5/13/03 Spring has finally arrived to the North Country. I visited an old American Indian village once. They "farmed" the woods by transplanting all the yucky plants (thorny, poisonous, smell bad etc) to the outside of the village. Then they encouraged the yummy ones (shade trees, fruiting plants and vines, insect repelling etc.) to grow around, in and above the little huts they made in the hummock of the gumbo-limbo trees. A living house! Is it possible to live like that AND have technology? The Organic Certification Cosmetic Products will dramatically change the way we all do business. It is an opportunity to reshuffle the deck. Potentially, and ideally, this will distinguish the yummy products from the yucky ones - a bounty we all hope to share in. At Vermont Soap the question is WHEN do we make the switch - not WILL we. |
